About the Summer Reading Program
Each year, the St. Marys Public Library hosts a fun filled program that is designed to encourage children to read for pleasure , to develop their curiosity, and to stimulate their imagination throughout the summer.  The goal is to maintain or improve the reading skills of children over the summer.
The program is offered in over 400 Canadian public libraries to children ages 12 and under, even to the young ones that do not yet read. With a different theme each year, the Program has been amazingly successful. Each year, over 1,500 books were read by over 80 children!  This year the library is once again participating in the TD National Summer Reading Club. This program is a joint effort by Library and Archives Canada and the TD Bank Financial Group, to encourage children to read and visit their local library. The summer reading program is open to all children that are aged 4 and up. Registration begins on June 14th and continues throughout the summer. When children register, they receive a poster, stickers and a log book to record the library books they read throughout the summer. Leaders-In-Training Program
For those youth that are aged 12+, we need you to help us run this awesome summer program.  This is an excellent way to earn your community hours, gain experience working with children, and learn useful lifelong leadership skills!  Apply at the Library by June 23, 2008.
